Prabowo Arrives in Washington DC, Set to Meet President Donald Trump to Strengthen Economic Cooperation

Metronusa News, WASHINGTON, DC – President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, arrived in the United States on Tuesday (February 17, 2026) at 11:55 a.m. local time. The presidential aircraft Garuda Indonesia-1 carrying the President and his delegation landed at Andrews Air Force Base in Washington, DC.

Upon arrival at the foot of the aircraft stairs, President Prabowo was welcomed by Indonesia’s Ambassador to the United States Dwisuryo Indroyono Soesilo, Indonesian Defense Attaché in Washington Air Marshal E. Wisoko Aribowo, and Maintenance Group Commander Colonel Gary Charland.

Following the welcoming ceremony, the President proceeded directly to his hotel, where he will stay during his visit to the U.S. capital.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, in a written statement, explained that during this visit President Prabowo is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump.

The meeting will focus on strengthening Indonesia–United States relations, particularly strategic cooperation across various economic sectors. Several negotiations and potential trade agreements are also expected to be part of the discussions between the two leaders.

“This visit reflects President Prabowo’s active diplomatic efforts to enhance economic value chains and boost domestic industrial productivity,” Teddy stated.

Accompanying President Prabowo on the flight to the United States were Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

The visit marks Indonesia’s continued commitment to strengthening economic diplomacy amid global dynamics and expanding opportunities for trade and investment cooperation between the two nations.
