MetronusaNews | Davos – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto attended the launch of the Board of Peace on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2026 in Davos, Switzerland, Wednesday (January 22, 2026). His presence underscores Indonesia’s firm commitment to playing an active role in promoting global peace amid escalating geopolitical tensions.
The Board of Peace is an international initiative aimed at strengthening cooperation among nations in resolving armed conflicts, with an initial focus on the humanitarian crisis and prolonged conflict in Gaza and the Middle East.
During the forum, President Prabowo reaffirmed Indonesia’s adherence to its free and active foreign policy, emphasizing the country’s readiness to contribute constructively through dialogue and international diplomacy.
Indonesia officially joined the Board of Peace alongside several other countries, including Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. The move is seen as reinforcing Indonesia’s longstanding stance in advocating peaceful solutions and global justice.
The Board of Peace is also designed to serve as a platform for coordinating humanitarian assistance, post-conflict reconstruction, and efforts to prevent further escalation in conflict-prone regions.
Observers note that President Prabowo’s participation reflects Indonesia’s increasingly proactive diplomatic posture on the global stage, in line with the constitutional mandate to contribute to a world order based on freedom, lasting peace, and social justice.
