President Prabowo Departs for the U.S., to Attend Board of Peace Meeting and Discuss Tariffs with Trump

Metronusa News, Jakarta – President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, departed for Washington, D.C., United States, on Monday (February 16, 2026), for a working visit aimed at strengthening Indonesia–U.S. bilateral relations.

The President, accompanied by a limited delegation, took off from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta. Joining him on the visit were Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

During his visit, President Prabowo is scheduled to attend a Board of Peace meeting focusing on global stability and international security issues. The forum is expected to gather key global leaders to discuss strategic solutions to emerging geopolitical challenges.

In addition, President Prabowo is set to hold a bilateral meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump. One of the main topics of discussion will be trade tariff policies and their impact on economic cooperation between the two countries.

The tariff issue is considered crucial as it directly affects Indonesia’s export sectors, including manufacturing, energy, and strategic commodities. The meeting is also expected to explore opportunities for expanded cooperation in energy, investment, defense, and broader economic partnerships.

This visit underscores Indonesia’s commitment to proactive diplomacy and efforts to strengthen its economic positioning amid evolving global trade dynamics.
